How a Black and Decker Rice Cooker Can Make your Life Easier

Most Americans eat rice only rarely, and usually only with Asian take-out meals or home-made stir-fry. In fact, many of us don’t even cook it at all. But well-made rice cooked at home can make you wonder why you haven’t been doing this your whole life. It’s delicious, it’s versatile, it’s healthy, and it’s easy to make. And with the Black and Decker Rice Cooker, rice is even easier.

If you’re thinking, “That’s great, but I’m not a big fan of Asian cuisine,” of if you just don’t have home-made Asian meals often enough to warrant the purchase of a rice cooker, I urge you to think again.

In spite of what the name says, the Black and Decker Rice Cooker can be used to cook more than just rice. In fact, I use mine as an all-purpose steamer. It’s great for cooking rice-like wonder grains such as quinoa, it works for preparing frozen vegetables, and it’s perfect for preparing dried beans and lentils.

If you’re still skeptical, I understand. I was also skeptical for a long time. I’ve always been a fan of rice, but I was perfectly happy to cook my rice on the stove. Just add one part rice to two parts of boiling water, lower heat, cover it up, let it cook for 15-20 minutes, and you have rice. What could be simpler than that?

The problem with stove-top rice cooking, though, is that too often problems arise. If you don’t closely monitor the heat, the water will get too hot and boil over, which can lead to hard, not-fully-cooked rice. If you have too much water, you’ll end up with a uniform slop of rice-like goo. Or if you cook it too long, you’ll get burnt, sticky rice at the bottom of the pot—which has ruined many a perfectly good saucepan.

The Black and Decker Rice Cooker takes care of all of these issues for you. All you have to do is put in your water, put in your rice, and start it up. You don’t have to keep checking to make sure that the water is boiling in just the right way, and you don’t have to keep stirring to make sure the rice doesn’t stick. In fact, you don’t have to do anything at all, which allows you to focus on the other aspects of your meal preparation.

The cooker comes with a tempered glass lid that allows excess heat and moisture to automatically get vented. It has a built-in system that monitors the heat to keep the rice at an ideal temperature. And it has a non-stick cooking pot that stays so clean during cooking that you barely even have to wash it.

Later, once you get the rice process down, you’ll start using your Black and Decker Rice Cooker for other things. But for now, depending on which size rice-cooker you want, you can start cooking perfect rice for an incredibly low price.
